In our Mega Man X series, I challenged Crosstix to name all the fake Robot Masters. With all the Mega Man Collections releasing, I figured it was time to let everyone play this fun game. Look at the following list and right down if you think they are a real robot master or fake. See if you can do better than he did.

Mega Man Trivia:

  • Mega Man is known by Rock Man in Japan
    • Rock Man is a connection to Rock and Roll (another character)
    • Other Music connections in Mega Man include: Proto Man as Blues. Bird helper named Beat. Treble and Bass become later additions to the series.
  • Mega Man series ends all their bosses with “Man”. The only change was in Mega Man 9, Splash Woman was added.
  • Mega Man X uses animal themes for their bosses.
    • Mega Man X5 deviates from this pattern in the USA because translator Alyson Court replaced the names of the bosses with references to the band Guns n’ Roses.
  • Mega Man X was creator Keiji Inafune’s chance to recreate the series. To accomplish this he and other designers switched roles in designing the bosses and Mega Man.
  • Mega Man X was originally supposed to feature Zero as the main character. Mega Man Zero accomplishes this.
  • Most Robot Masters and Mavericks were created by contests for fans to send in drawings. Only two robot masters were created outside of Japan for the original 6 NES games, Knight Man and Wind Man.
  • Over 700,000 Robot Master ideas have been submitted by fans.
  • When Inafune left Capcom three Mega Man projects were canceled:
    • Maverick Hunters- a game made by Retro Studios Veterans that would be a 1st person shooter in the style of Metroid Prime
    • Mega Man Universe – This game would have incorporated user content like Little Big Planet and Mario Maker.
    • Mega Man Legends 3
